The Spirit of St. Louis, piloted by Charles A. Lindbergh, completed the first nonstop flight between New York and Paris on May 20 and 21, 1927. Time in the air - 33 hours and 30 minutes. Lindbergh took off on May 20 from Roosevelt Field, Long Island, NY, with very little sleep the nite before. His plane, 1,000 pounds overweight, barely lifted off at the end of the runway, missing a telephone pole by just 20 feet. Lindbergh fought exhaustion most of the time, struggling to stay awake and periodically sticking his head out the window of his plane to refresh himself in the wind stream. At the end of 28 hours, he saw the coast of Ireland and realized for the first time that he was on target for his destination, the airfield of Paris, France. Still miles away, he saw the glowing nite lights of Paris. Moments later, he landed at Le Bourget airfield to the cheers of thousands who had awaited him on the runway. At that moment, Lindbergh and the Spirit of St. Louis entered the aviation hall of fame.

The Sopwith Camel, the Cessna Skyhawk, the Stearman PT-17, and the Spirit of St. Louis can be powered by the included rubber motor or an electric motor. All kits include the finest balsa material and an assembly manual.
